Social Service – Need of the hour

India has witness a huge inflow of funds through charity organisation / NGOs, to support the poor. The results are also in front of us. Not to blame anyone the fruitful results are not seen in reality.

• ·         Many other known / unknown.

Our study has highlighted that the charity has helped in some areas of community development but for real upliftment or to eradicate poverty an aggressive livelihood program is to be implemented and managed, along with the process to change the mindset of the under privileged citizens (we say under privileged because we believe they have still not got the privilege of utilising their strength). Many a time it is felt that providing them with little facilities or services, satisfy them and we kill the inner strength in these people, to do better.

Putting this study we at Vikas Trust came with an objective to uplift the under privileged through income generation and self sustaining model through self employment and Gruh Udhyog. Providing with just opportunities will not work, beneficiaries are counsel for psychological change in them, changing their mind set and those who accept the change then VIKAS TRUST provide all the assistance through the experts in field of business planning, financial assistance, negotiation with vendors, banks, suppliers etc. Also enrolling in govt. schemes and others to get subsidiary.

Credit counseling is also done to analyse the risk and explain them about the fund flow. Habit of saving, investments, protection is also incorporated to make them financial stable for the future.

Some of the projects Vikas Trust supports are

• ·         Making of quality eatables
• ·         Making of Paper Bags, Candles, Artificial Jewellery, etc
• ·         Stitching of Cloths
• ·         Dial 4 Service

Pilot projects was carried out, to gain experience and understand the integrity and study the results. With good results in hand, now the same is done in bigger scale.

Skills available with these beneficiaries were utilised by businessmen / enterpruners to yield good returns for themselves and these under privileged are left with peanuts. Now it’s the time to utised their skill for themselves and lets share the rich profits.

The model required for the real upliftment will work on this critea

A group will be formed under Co-operative Society Act.  The members of this Society are the beneficiaries. Society is by them for themselves.

Vikas Trust will support in providing all resources to the society till they are stabilised themselves for smooth working. (Say by 3 to 5 years).

Fine Tuning the Skills,

Arranging for finance

Sourceing the raw materials,

Set right the manufacturing procedures & systems

Getting the required registrations from local authorities

Managing the accounts and records through some beneficiaries

Guiding them for calculating the best payout and surplus as dividends
